Joanna Lipper is a filmmaker, photographer and author of the nationally acclaimed book, Growing Up Fast. Her work as a documentary filmmaker has been supported by the MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, ITVS, Britdoc Foundation, the Tribeca Gucci Documentary Fund and Chicken & Egg Pictures. In 2012, she won the Tribeca Gucci Spotlighting Women Documentary Award for The Supreme Price. Previous films include Inside Out: Portraits of Children, Growing up Fast and Little Fugitive. At Harvard, she teaches AAAS 109 “Using Film For Social Change.” This course integrates film, photography and social engagement and is cross-listed in Women’s Studies and Visual and Environmental Studies.
