Ph.D. in African American Studies, with a primary field in History of Art and Architecture
Class of 2013
Christina Knight received her Ph.D. from Harvard’s Department of African and African American Studies with a primary field in History of Art and Architecture in 2013. She received her BA with honors from Stanford University in Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities in 2005. Research interests include the connection between embodied practices and identity, the relationship between race and the visual field, and the queer imaginary. Her dissertation, titled "Performing Passage: Contemporary Artists Stage the Slave Trade" focuses on representations of the Middle Passage in contemporary American visual art and performance. She is currently on faculty in the Black Studies Department at Amherst College.
