Ph.D. in African American Studies, with a primary field in History
Class of 2013
Ashley Farmer earned a Ph.D. in African American Studies and an M.A. in History from Harvard University. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Michelle R. Clayman Institute for Gender Research at Stanford University and the author of several articles about African American women’s black power activism and theorizing. Her dissertation, What You’ve Got is a Revolution: Black Women’s Movements for Black Power, contributes to the growing body of literature on theorizing, gender, and activism within the black power movement.
